William Holmes

American Civil WarWilliam Holmes emigrated from England and lived in Sterling.  He served in Company F of the 110th Regiment of the New York Volunteers.  He died on June 30, 1863.  The battle of Gettysburg began the following day.  Perhaps he died at Gettysburg.  More research needs to be done.  If you have additional information on the Holmes family, please let us know.

His wife, Maria Holmes, was born in England on January 10, 1827 and died October 30, 1854 at the age of 27.  Following Maria’s death he may have married Ellen Holmes before 1860.

John served during the Civil War. More information on his life and service are need.
